Offering compassionate care for traumatic lived experience.
Josh Goordat believes that the most effective therapy happens at the intersection of rigorous clinical training, regulatory professionalism, and human understanding and compassion. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Psychology from York University and is currently a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) student completing his clinical practicum. He is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
Josh’s approach to mental health is shaped not just by academic and regulatory frameworks, but by his own lived experience. In 2022, he navigated a significant personal challenge when he was diagnosed with Type I Bipolar Disorder and underwent a journey of recovery from an episode of manic psychosis. This period transformed his understanding of resilience, psychiatric crises, and the importance of compassionate, non-judgmental care.
Today, Josh integrates his academic foundation and professional clinical training with a firsthand understanding of recovery. His knowledge of and experience in counselling significant traumas gives him an advantage in offering compassionate care to individuals facing trauma. He is dedicated to creating a safe, destigmatizing space where clients feel truly seen, validated, and empowered to navigate their own unique journeys toward healing.
